The BBQ Report

The iGrill is the first grilling and cooking thermometer and App for iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad. It’s a combination of a free downloadable app, and a small thermometer with Bluetooth capabilities. You can not only track the temperature remotely, but also predict cooking times thanks to a trending graph.

I recently tried out one of these units, and it works as advertised. After a brief setup (typical Bluetooth pairing procedure), and downloading the app, you are ready to go. Simply insert the probe into the meat, and you’re ready. The temperature acts like a stand alone thermometer, but is also broadcasting information back to your phone or iPad. Simply run the app to see the current temperature.

Range is pretty good, certainly good enough to grill or BBQ outside, while enjoying the party inside. You can also set alarms so that you are not constantly having to pull out your phone.
