The WienerStick stops roll away wieners
Bet you don’t have one of these in your arsenal! This new product is the brainchild of the aptly named Wiener Tec, who are masters of wiener technology. Inventor Reg Wall came up with the idea when, and I’m not making this up, a cat ate his wiener. It rolled off the grill where it was quickly snatched up by the hungry feline.
The patented WienerStick is basically a rack of vertical stainless steel tines which you use as sort of a vertical kabob setup. The WienerStick sits vertically on your barbecue, maximizing space and turning your two dimensional cooking surface, into a three dimensional experience. Food skewered on the stainless steel tines cooks quite quickly from the inside out, allowing you to make a variety of foods including wieners and hotdogs, without the hassle of constant turning or burning. If you have several of these you could cook enough hot dogs for the entire neighborhood in one shot.
There’s an action shot of the inventor demonstrating this little gadget in The Abbotsford News and more information on the Wiener Tech website. No photos of the wiener eating cat however.

Kegerator komparisons
I realize that I’m invoking artistic license by including beer related gadgets on a barbecue blog, but it seems like a reasonable side topic, or side dish as it were.
A new website, Kegerators.net was just launched and is proclaiming themselves the “ultimate kegerator comparsion website”. I didn’t realize that there was other such websites. To be fair though I never realized that there was more than one kind of kegerator.
If you’re looking to outfit your barbecue station with some frosty beverages, are starting your own fraternity, or just love the thrill of comparing kegerators then I guess this is the website for you.

Woodflame: Wood Burning Portable BBQ Grill
The French-Canadian company Woodflame‘s new wood burning portable barbecue grill designed to make grilling safer and more convenient for boaters, campers, picnicers and tailgaters. No charcoal or propane is required, only a single cube of wood.

To operate the unit, a hardwood cube is place into a combustion chamber inside the grill, then a forced air blower system supplies the fire with a constant supply of oxygen, heating the grill in under two minutes. The grill burns the hardwood so completely and efficiently that only a tiny pinch of ash remains in the grill.
The lightweight units (10 lbs and 17 lbs models) are designed for portability. They fold up into a little bag for easy transport to the beach or wherever your travels may take you. The unit is battery powered, and the efficiency of the hardwood burner means you don’t have to haul a sack of charcoal with you either. Unlike other grills, the forced air heating system means that the sides and bottom of the grill do not get hot. You can even cook on a plastic table cloth.

Wireless Grilling Thermometer

The last thing any grill master wants to do is burn those $25 ribeyes sizzling on the grill. But with a company to entertain and a few beers under the belt, it’s all too easy to lose track of time. Oregon Scientific’s Wireless Barbecue Thermometer
might be just the ticket.
Set the thermometer probe for the desired doneness, place it in the meat and clip the wireless receiver to the combination belt clip/table stand up to 100 feet away. When the barbecue is almost done, the receiver will sound an alert.
The device can measure the temperature of beef, lamb, veal, hamburger, pork, turkey, chicken and fish, and can be set for rare, medium rare, medium and well done.
It costs $50 and ships with two AA and two AAA batteries.

Here’s an interesting little tool that aims to make cleaning your grill fast and easy. The Grill Gadget consists of a solid brass “Universal Disc” (patent pending), a steel shaft, a wooden handle, a leather hang, and an acorn nut. The “Universal Disc” has different size slots which will fit almost any grill. This tool has a life time warranty. It will not scratch your grill. Ladies, it will also clean the racks in your oven. It is long enough so you can clean your grill while it is still hot, or wait until you are ready to grill out next time. The Martin Grill Gadget is easy to clean…just wipe the “Universal Disc” with a paper towel.

Light charcoal faster with the Weber Chimney starter
The Weber Chimney Starter is a great way to quickly start your charcoal without stinky lighter fluid, toxic chemicals, a blow torch, costly starter sticks, or other incendiary magic.
Basically, a few sheets of newspaper at the bottom of the chimney creates a small fire which, through the magic of science, gets your coals rocket engine hot in just a few minutes. All for less than $12 or so. Faster, cleaner, and cheaper than other methods, it’s one of my favorite tools. So how does this thing work? In this article I’ll not only tell you how well it works, but how it works.
